Apda, with approx 1100 members, holds two conferences per year for each of five areas. Each conference provides opportunity for individual growth, exchange of industry information and ideas, and continuing education credits for maintaining nerc certification for system operators. apda provides college scholarships to selected students based on parental membership in apda, scholastic achievement and community involvement. 12 scholarships were awarded in 2014. other program expenses allow the operation of apda as a national organization to provide power system operators with the necessary infrastructure for the development of fellowship among the members through a website, newsletters, and conferences.
