The association provides leadership and conducts educational programs in gerontological social work, research and policy the association publishes a journal of gerontological social work containg articles on social work practice, theory and administration in the field of aging the association provides pre-dissertation stipends to selected doctoral studens in the field of gerontolgical social work. Ten stipends in the amount of $1000 and one scholarship of $1000 were awarded during 2016.
