(afnob) is established to foster public awareness of and encourage public support for the archaeological research being conducted at the ness of brodgar site, orkney islands, united kingdom. The international scientific importance of this site in expanding our understanding of the neolithic era (new stone age) will be brought to the american public through electronic and print media, public lectures and fundraising functions.

Support from american friends of the ness of brodgar has allowed the actual length of the dig season to expand by two weeks annually, which is significant to a season that is weather restricted to 3 months or less. Support has also enhanced cataloging and storage of artifacts discovered at the site. Support has in part facilitated enhanced u. S. Presence with lecture tour in early 2017, and has also provided for a much improved site guide book, an improved website, an electronic newsletter, etc.
