To improve the lives of all affected by autism by maximizing the self-sufficiency, independence and quality of life for all living with autism through education, information referrals, advocacy, and social programs

The autism society central virginia's mission is to improve the lives of all affected by autism by maximizing the self-sufficiency, independence, and quality of life for all living with autism. The ascv is the local voice and resource in education, advocacy, services, and support. The organization fulfills its mission to improve the lives of all affected by autism by providing information and referral to anyone seeking resources on autism services and supports, sponsoring monthly interest and social groups for individuals and their families, and holding educational events and training opportunities throughout the year. The ascv also provides monthly social and recreational activities free of charge, and provides scholarships so that individuals, who might not otherwise be able, can attend social, recreational, and educational programs of their choice. In 2017, the ascv was proud to reach 2,138 individuals through our information & referral program; 1,800 individuals through social and recreation activities, including social groups, bowling leagues, family outings & a sibling program; 846 individuals through 22 educational workshops; and 68 individuals with $15,228 through our recreational, social & educational scholarship programs. grants: the autism society central virginia's scholarship program was designed to help improve the quality of life for individuals living with autism and their families in the central va area. In 2017 the ascv offered three types of scholarships: 1) recreational & social scholarship - to help provide funding for recreational and/or social activities for the individual with autism, 2) education enrichment scholarship - to help provide funding toward educational enrichment opportunities related to autism for individuals and/or family members, and 3) membership scholarship - to allow individuals/families who are experiencing difficult financial times to be able to participate as a member in the ascv. In 2017, the autism society central va awarded 51 recreational & social scholarships, 7 education enrichment scholarships, and 10 membership scholarships to individuals and families affected by autism.
