Mission

The american college of nuclear medicine is comprised of physicians, scientists, and corporate members dedicated to enhancing the practice of nuclear medicine through the study, education, and improvement of clinical practice. The organization:--advocates fair reimbursement and a favorable economic environment for the practice of nuclear medicine. --represents the nuclear medicine community before government and regulatory bodies. --maintains a forum where industry and nuclear medicine professionals interact to enhance the utilization and advancement of nuclear medicine. --informs the public, professionals, and government about the value of nuclear medicine. --communicates with other professional societies for the purpose of advancing the field of nuclear medicine. --grows the practice of nuclear medicine by increasing its application and promoting its use.

Causes

Programs

Professional enhancement - held workshops on molecular imaging and on professional and socio-economic issues of interest to nuclear physicians, including communications with congress and federal regulatory agencies. Worked with related professional societies to create new and improve/update existing official guidelines for best practices in nuclear medicine. Also created intersocietal appropriate use criteria. Acnm also offers networking and mentoring opportunities through a fellows program and a well-developed residents program. meetings - held various meetings, including a significant annual meeting with numerous continuing professional education programs. Board members attended intersociety meetings in order to provide forums for members and other interested parties to gather and discuss issues affecting nuclear medicine.
