The mission of the american society of cataract and refractive surgery is to advance the art and science of ophthalmic surgery and the knowledge and skills of ophthalmic surgeons. It does so by providing clinical and practice management education.
The annual symposium and other meetings throughout the year provide education in the fields of cataract and refractive surgery and other ophthalmology related topics. The meetings are educational and promote the society's exempt purpose. the journal of cataract and refractive surgery, published monthly, is educational in nature and serves to promote the exempt purpose of the organization. Included are articles on all aspects of anterior segment surgery. In addition to original clinical studies, the journal features a consultation section, practical techniques, important cases, and reviews as well as basic science articles. the bi-monthly publication, administrative eyecare, contains information about ophthalmic office administration and services to promote the exempt purpose of the organization. Regular columns include business operations, finance, human resources, information technology, legal issues, management, marketing, revenue generation, coding and reimbursement, legislative and regulatory update, technician management, ambulatory surgical centers, optical shops and ophthalmic practices.
