The purpose of albemarle garden club is to stimulate the knowledge and love of gardening, to share the advantages of association by means of educational meetings, conferences, correspondence and publications, and to restore, improve and protect the quality of the environment through educational programs and action in the field of conservation and civic improvement.

The club provides support for the state and national garden clubs, the garden club of virginia and the garden club of america. the club donates funds, labor and expertise to civic improvement projects paid from the funds of the club. the club prepares programs for members and the public in support of gardening education and awareness.
