To operate and maintain a free, public, non political and non-sectarian library system in and for adams county, pennsylvania, in order to disseminate information and ideas necessary to the present welfare and future advancement of adams county, to strengthen and extend knowledge and appreciation of the cultural values of life, and to provide the perpetual means of self-education and recreational reading to every man, woman and child.
Provides the general public with library facilities and services with branches in gettysburg, new oxford, littlestown, carroll valley, and biglerville. The gettysburg facility serves as both the largest circulating branch and the system headquarters, responsible for providing all support services to the branch locations. Additionally, the library operates an outreach vehicle and maintains an online presence. Fifty-three computers are available for public use. Daily visits average 1,200 users. The library holds over 50 educational programs per month throughout the county.
