Causes

Programs

Young families is an early head start assists and supports low income, primarily teens, parents and prenatal parents in pursuit of their educational goals and the development of their parenting skills, while providing comprehensive quality child care for their infants and toddlers (including disabled and foster children) birth to age three. The young families early head start program provides continuous, intensive, and comprehensive child development and family support services on a year-round basis. Through our services, young parents are supported in their efforts to fulfill their parental roles and to reach their educational, training, and career goals, moving toward self-sufficiency and responsible citizenship. We provide a comprehensive two generational program including intensive services that begin before the child is born and concentrate on enhancing the child's development and supporting the family during the critical first three years of the child's life. We also provide prenatal classes through school district 2 for students in preparation for parenthood. Young families provides these services to low-income parents at no charge to the families. We take what is all too often a prognosis for a lifetime of poverty and failure and provide practical steps to positive outcomes for both the young parent and baby. This year 100% of the children progressed in the 5 domains of learning- through 8,500 sessions for 50 children.
