To promote, nurture, and defend constitutional rights and civil liberties, and educate the people of missouri concerning the bill of rights and their various civil liberties. The organization engages in public education on issues of free speech, religious freedom, criminal justice, racial justice, and government accountability for constitutional rights and civil liberties. Also, the organization seeks to protect and promote the bill of rights by providing free legal services to those whose individual rights have been violated by the government.

Public education - organization currently publishes citizen action liberties alerts and engages in public education on issues of free speech, religious freedom, criminal justice, racial justice and government accountability for constitutional rights and civil liberties, in addition to providing speakers for community groups and schools holding educational forums and conducting public relations through the media. Legal assistance - organization seeks to protect and promote the bill of rights by providing free legal services to those whose individual rights have been violated by the government. Litigation accomplishments for the reported year include: a successful federal lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of "nuisance ordinances which punish victims of domestic violence; representingthe naacp in a challenge to photo id voter suppression; an u. S. District court victory against unlawful police practices targeting protesters speaking out against the killing of unarmed african-americans; and filing of lawsuits to protect due process rights in kansas city, free speech rights of vegan food companies, and to prohibit discrimination against elderly same-sex married couples. As well, the eighth circuit u. S. Court of appeals affirmed a voting rights act victory. We expanded our work to reduce disparities in discipline rates of black and white students in school districts throughout the state of missouri, and engaged in robust public education about racial profiling, first amendment rights, and immigrants' rights.
