Community development programs includes the physical development the construction and rehabilitation of affordable homes and retail space. Economic development and entrepreneurship training program and business retention work. Key successes are as follows 1) the development of 300 affordable housing options that include home-ownership, senior, and rental units. 2) the development of 18,100 sq feet of commercial space for local small businesses that are all african or african american owned and operated under the umbrellas of university dale apartments, frogtown square, mcasa homes and western u plaza and community enhancement group homes. 680 entrepreneur's trained the civic engagement and community organizing programs help human social and political development through community safety initiatives, voter registration and engagement, political education and a resident leadership training program. Under asandc's leadership over 132 livable wage jobs have been created surpassing minority hiring goals for small contractors. As a result it is estimated over $86 million dollars has been invested in our local political ward. youth count - vision in living life program is designed to develop leadership among area youth. Our youth participated along with metro wide youth getting the ccity to pass an ordinance on the amount of window signage to be used by businesses and getting the city council to pass a ban on selling inexpensive cigar singles and improper tobacco product displays. Further our youth signed up 20 organizations to take a stand fighting for anti-funding policies against the tobacco industry.
