Mission

This corporation is organized and shall be operated exclusively for the following charitable and education purposes: - to promote and serve minnesotans in their quest for clean, healthy air, free of tobacco smoke; - to offer support to nonsmokers and nonsmokers' rights organizations in other states of the united states of america and in foreign countries; - to prevent young people from starting to use tobacco; - and more generally, to combat the health, environmental and economic problems resulting from tobacco use.

Programs

Point of sale project (pos) works to reduce the harm done by tobacco use in the metro area. Through education, media, and policy advocacy, we are working to reduce youth access to tobacco products and tobacco industry influences. Pos focuses on enforcing and strengthening local tobacco ordinances in the point-of-sale environment. Specific focus is to educate and advocate about restricting the sale of flavored tobacco products and keeping tobacco prices high. technical assistance and training: ansr staff provides training and guidance about tobacco control and public policy to grantees of the mn department of health, blue cross and blue shield of minnesota, and clearway minnesota. Training is through one-on-one, group and electronic meetings. live smoke free (lsf) works to increase the availability of smoke-free multi-unit housing (sfmuh) through direct service, technical assistance, and consultation. Lsf maintains a comprehensive database of minnesota sfmuh properties; conducts seminars and lunch & learns for and provides technical assistance to landlords, property managers, and tenants; and makes presentations at tobacco-control and property-management conferences. all other programs are designed to combat the health, environmental and economic problems resulting from tobacco smoking.
