The association of clean technology incubators of new england, inc. (action), a massachusetts non-profit corporation formed in 2011, is a business league that fosters the association of persons having a common business interest in advancing the clean technology industry throughout new england. Action's mission is to enhance collaboration among new england clean technology incubators to strengthen the regional cluster, accelerate early stage company growth, and grow green jobs. Action is not organized for profit and no part of its net earnings inure to the benefit of any private shareholder or individual. Action is dedicated to improving business conditions for clean technology incubators and organizations by promoting growth and development across the industry. Action is the lead member of the "action network" comprised of not-for-profit clean technology incubators throughout new england, entrepreneurs/emerging companies and other entities having an interest in the clean-tech industry.

Pipeline development: the purpose of this program is to develop the network including encouraging other incubators to join as members of action. They also aim towards attracting portfolio company participation in action network incubators - attending industry conferences, workshops, and educational forums. The attendance at such conferences, workshops and educational forums is funded by grants, membership, and sponsorship support. fundraising and distribution of grants: the organization has moved forward in making direct grants to incubators, each a non-profit corporation which has obtained 501(c)(3) exemption from the internal revenue service, and/or tax exempt universities that are public universities, out of overall funds received by action from federal and state awards for clean technology initiatives, for such incubator's use in internal operations support, program development, and similar purposes. Such grants will be awarded to member incubators and universities pursuant to the objectives and criteria set forth by the grantor coupled with input from an independent committee of the board. Action intends that the grant making process will be transparent and without conflict of interest. These grants will be funded from sponsorship/membership revenues, regional, state and federal agencies, foundations and other sources, the u-launch program, the 16 green award and other similar programs, and grants from time to time. strategy/ administration within the industry: the purpose of this program includes strategy development and implementation, and general management of operations including oversight of volunteers and interns.
