Our mission, through the use of the workshop method developed by Pat Schneider, is to support established and emerging voices, to free silenced voices and to respect the artist in all writers.

We train writing workshop leaders to use the powerful AWA method several times a year and maintain a network of trained leaders who receive ongoing learning opportunities and make connections with one another that deepen the quality of writing workshops they offer to the communities they serve.

We support writers in non-traditional settings develop their craft without damage to the creative spirit.

Our work is national and international, with trainings all over the US, chapters of workshop leaders based in Canada, Ireland, and Malawi, as well as individual workshop leaders supporting writers in Mexico, Singapore, and more.
