Annual symposium - amda presents an annual conference where speakers present content designed to expand attendees' knowledge, competency and skills in clinical medicine, leadership and management in long-term care. The event allows attendees to choose from a variety of sessions focused on different areas of long-term and post-acute care. Content is chosen through a committee that uses activity evaluations, environmental scanning, expert opinions and standards of practice to choose topics for presentation. The program includes interactive and didactic live and online presentations. professional development and other meetings - the content of amda's professional development activities is based on a continuous needs assessment conducted through activity evaluations, environmental scanning, expert opinion, and standards of practice, including practice guidelines. Education content is designed to expand the knowledge, competency and skills of physicians and allied healthcare professionals who treat patients in long term care settings through national and regional dissemination of emerging information in clinical medicine and in leadership and management in long term care. Amda utilizes a variety of instructional methods and formats for its continuing education activities via live and on-line programs which are based on the desired learning objectives and outcome of the educational activity. Specific activities include: core curriculum on medical direction live and online courses with audience response, online asynchronous programs, and print and on-line enduring materials. publications - amda has two publications: jamda - the journal of post-acute and long-term care medicine ("jamda"), a peer reviewed journal, which is distributed twelve times per year, and caring for the ages ("caring"), a monthly newsletter for post-acute and long-term care practitioners.
