Research (research and advocacy): our connection to research started in 1991, when a study found that only 4% of charitable giving was directed exclusively to programs for women and girls. Women's foundation was created to fill that gap. We've re-committed our agency to the work of research - identifying and documenting the issues, then working with community partners to articulate and implement solutions. We advocate for and educate on the following areas: 1) pay equity 2) paid family and medical leave 3) occupational licensing 4) board appointments. The goal of the women's foundation research is to arrive at data-driven decisions and solutions; programmatic solutions and policy changes for the betterment of women. This is the framework for our organization. leadership (girls leadership and appointments project): the women's foundation girls leadership program was established in 1999. The 2017-18 program includes 60 high-school aged women from across kansas city. The specific curriculum for this leadership training and philanthropic education was developed in collaboration with a consultant and assessed in comparison to the national scale. The girls leadership program includes grant-making, fundraising, civic engagement, leadership training, and team-building. Another of the foundation's leadership programs is the appointments project, a trademarked brand. The appointments project serves as a talent bank, resource, and support for women seeking opportunities to lead in their communities - and is directly related to our work in advocacy and education. Our goal is to guide women through the process of applying for these positions to further improve their chances of being appointed. grantmaking: since its inception in 1991, women's foundation has made hundreds of grants to non-profit organizations benefiting women of all ages in kansas and missouri. The foundation targets five key indicators: child care and education, income and employment, health care, aging and economic security, and civic leadership. Women's foundation is dedicated to improving the quality of life for women of all ages in our community.
