The arc of illinois is committed to empowering persons with disabilities to achieve full participation in community life through informed choices

The association coordinates and communicates activities of member groups and educates for the betterment of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in illinois and promotes the understanding of the problems of people with idd. Advocates for people with idd by directing their families to the proper agencies for problem solving and services. under an illinois grant the agency has undertaken a project to create a strong central location where people with disabilities of all ages and their family members can get accurate information and linkage to advocacy resources in order to to maneuver through the system of services they need throughout their lives. Aproximately 21000 contacts made in fy the agency presents workshop/seminars designed to address the concerns of parents, caregivers and professionals around life issues of persons with developmental disabilities. Educational workshops enable professionals to earn continuing education units.
