Mission

Increase access to mental healthcare by offering high-quality professional counseling services to people of all ages and from all walks of life in order to help them develop an understanding of the problem that brought them into treatment and help them learn to deal with it effectively.

Programs

Counseling - yfc offers a high level of accessibility to services and delivered 8,120 counseling sessions to 696 cases (individuals, couples and families). Our clients ranged in age from 3 to 93 years of age and were covered by private health insurance, medicaid managed care plans, or used our subsidized fee program to afford treatment. Our counseling services were offered in english and in spanish and, through co-location agreements with other organizations, at other locations in underserved parts of lake county (erie heathreach in waukegan, waukegan public library, mano a mano family resource center in round lake park, and mundelein high school). outreach - yfc's outreach program strives to educate members of our community on mental health issues, and help individuals and families know when and how to seek professional treatment. In 2017, yfc offered a range of educational programming including a bullying prevention program for middle school students and mental health workshops for parents. Yfc also reached community members through participation in health and wellness fairs across lake county. education and training - yfc's education & training program supports the development of well-trained professionals who can carry out our mission and serve the complex needs of vulnerable populations in our community. In 2017 we provided clinical internships for two master's level students, a continuing training program for recent graduates, and trainings for the ongoing development of all members of yfc's clinical team.
