Programs

Professional development - ahima is dedicated to developing and delivering meaninful lifelong learning opportunitites. Ahima provides education, certification, and advocacy to the healthcare community with a vested interest in the benefits realized by quality healthcare information. Ahima offers a wide range of products and services, including online educational applications, audio seminars, publications, certifications, and conferences/institutes/seminars/ workshops. Each product or service is created with current and future professional skill development needs in mind. In addition, ahima also: holds an annual convention with over 2,800 attendees, sold 132,931 books/products; and delivered 90 continuing education seminars with over 5,000 registrants by audio and webcast. Over 33,900 professionals participated in quizzes to gain continuing education credits. Ahima has sold 11,102 web-based training products and enrolled over 1,900 students in our coding basics programs. certifications services - ahima, through its affiliate certification entity, the commission on certification for health informatics and information management (cchiim), develops, maintains, and administers 15 professional voluntary certification exams to more than 14,800 candidates annually. These exams and their accompanying credentials validate competence of individuals at an entry-level or advanced level of practice in health information. him profession - ahima offers professional practice advice, represents the profession with other assocations, and contributes to and influences standards for public policy with legislative / regulatory bodies. Ahima's staff him professionals contribute to achieving integrity of electronic health information through activities geared toward the following:adoption of him principles and best practices into ehr systems; standardization of health information exchanges consistent with him principles; data / information interoperability and data governance standards; provision of education of ahima members and the industry for development and maintenance of standards; integration of global standards into health information management and informatics functions. communication services / member services - ahima continually pushes the envelope with its many communication and member service initiatives. Electronic resources include an industry-defining website, www. Ahima. Org. The website is the home of the association's 163 engage communities - offering members a 24/7 opportunity to virtually network about practical and functional issues affecting their daily work; the searchable ahima body of knowledge - repository of appoximately 9,028 unique resources dedicated to the topic of healthcare information by enabling member interaction with elected representatives. The website also warehouses many resources available to non-members. Ahima also publishes an online-only peer-reviewed research journal. The association also offers an online consumer resource, www. Myphr. Com. A number of electronic newsletters are available for members and non-members, along with digital editions of the member newsletter, ahima advantage. The award-winning journal of ahima is delivered direct to 45,979 members in a paper-based format and an estimated additional 50,000 members electronically. The journal is also delivered to 351 non-members.
