Mission

Ascrs is an association of surgeons and other professionals dedicated to assuring high quality patient care by advancing the science through research and education for prevention and management of disorder of the colon, rectum and anus.

Programs

The annual meeting is a scientific program designed to providesurgeons with an in-depth and up-to-date knowledge relative tosurgery for diseases of the colon, rectum and anus with emphasison patient care, teaching and research. There are a variety ofpresentation formats to comply with different learning modalities. The purpose of all sessions is to improve the quality of care ofpatients with diseases of the colon and rectum. The 2017 annualmeeting attracted approximately 1,700 professionals. the ascrs' journal "diseases of the colon and rectum" is aninternationally recognized scientific journal publishingpeer-reviewed articles on diseases of the colon and rectum. Thejournal has been adopted as the official journal of the colorectalsurgical society of australia and new zealand and the japansociety of coloproctology. Articles are peer-reviewed by aninternational editorial board of 40 experts in the field to carryout its mission to advance the knowledge of intestinal disordersby providing a forum for communication amongst members of theamerican society of colon and rectal surgeons, its affiliatedsocieties and other interested physicians. Member circulation wasapproximately 3,000.
