Alliance for Kids is a non-profit organization whose direct purpose is to provide funding and programs for the Child Life Department

Alliance For Kids Programs: Child Life Child Life Specialists prepare patients for and distract them during procedures, offer coping skills and give patients and their families the tools to make their experience a positive one. The Child Life Team manages visiting groups, volunteers and donations for the children?s hospital. To normalize the hospital environment, the team schedules special events and activities during the week. Hero Alliance A unique program which individuals, corporations and local organizations can work with Alliance for Kids. Alliance For Kids R.E.S.C.U.E. A resource database found on the Alliance for Kids website, to help connect families of ill children with local, state and national resources. The Alliance Project Long-term teen patients create community service projects to help other hospitalized children. Monkey for Me A welcome project for new admissions to the hospital. Each $10 donation provides a child with a soft,? ready-to- stuff ? monkey. Super Serum Our "Little Heroes" receive their very own Super Serum Box that covers and transforms their IV bag. They receive a Super Cape, Super Sack, and Super Comic to help change their perceptions about medication. Bravery Bands On admission, each little patient receives a rainbow silicone band for their wrist. Over the course of their hospital stay, the patient will earn additional bands for each of their major hospital experiences. BYT - Brave Young Teens A teen support and action council for teen patients and their siblings. They create community outreach projects and fundraise for programs for other hospitalized children. Socialization with their peers dramatically decreases when teens are hospitalized the teen council provides a way to interact with other hospitalized teens and siblings. Happy Glass/Google Glass Extreme Fear and severe pain are experiences children should never have to face. As Child Life Specialists, it is our job to help hospitalized children cope with both. Happy Glass opens up a world of distraction, we are able to capture the children's attention and allow us to prepare and educate them with the materials we have created for procedures and diagnoses.
