The American Red Cross, a humanitarian organization led by volunteers and guided by its Congressional Charter and the Fundamental Principles of the International Red Cross Movement, provides relief to victims of disaster and helps people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies. 700 times a year, families in the Bay Area call on the Red Cross for help in the aftermath of a disaster. 1,300 times a year, Red Cross youth are in classrooms in the Bay Area, training younger students in basic first aid and safety skills. All of these programs are funded entirely by donations by the people of the Bay Area.
