Programs

Ypic provides youth ages 14 through 21 tutoring, study skills, training and instruction leading to completion of secondary education with an emphasis on dropout prevention strategies. Youth are also provided summer employment opportunities that are directly linked to academic and occupational learning. The following are additional services provided to youth: -program orientation and intake -academic counseling, adult mentoring, career counseling -basic education classroom instruction, paid/unpaid work experience -occupational skills training, assessment testing -summer employment opportunities -community service projects, leadership development -peer-centered activities, job shadowing, internships -comprehensive guidance -job seeker assistance: employment referrals -navigation of employment websites -workshops: resume, application, interviewing & work readiness preparation -follow-up services, support services persons benefited - 380 enrolled other achievements - exceeded 5 performance standards and met 1 ypic provides adults services designed to help customers access the tools they need to obtain training, skills upgrades and receive job seeker services. Ypic's goal is to assist our customers in attaining self-sufficiency. Dislocated worker - ypic provides employment, re-employment and training services to customers who have lost their jobs throught no fault of their own due to mass layoffs, plant closures, or reduction in force due to the declining industry and/or occupation. Services inlude the following: -job search assistance -career counseling and assessment -workshops on employability skills, resume, practice interviewing, career exploration, computer fundamentals -resume assistance -funding for training/upgrading current occupations skills -unemployment insurance information -use of computers, fax and copy machines, and telephones for job search -library resources persons benefited - 163 enrolled other achievements - exceeded three performance standards and met one. ypic operates a charter school for grades 9 through 12 for at-risk students, 226 students enrolled in charter school, 50 youth graduated in may 2012. School achieved the highest average reading and math mean scale scores of yuma county alternative schools. Alternative az learns label alt-a aims scores grew an average of 23. 9 standardized points in reading and 26. 5 standardized points in math.
