Mission

The purpose of this corporation is to engage in the following :(a) to promote, further and advance the function of the legal profession engaged in the collection of debt, creditor rights and related areas of the laws pertaining to the collection of debt. (b) to educate the public and members of the credit and collection industry as to various aspects of the legal collection industry. (c) to provide an interchange of ideas for the members. (d) to provide meetings, seminars and publications to further the purposes of the association. (e) to encourage and promote the adoption of legislation in arizona favorable to the collection industry, the attorney engaged in retail debt collection and the rights of the credit-granting public. (f) to gather and disseminate information and material relative to consumer credit which may be valuable to the members of the association and the general public. Causes

Programs

Legislative committee - monitored legislative decisions affecting the collection of debt, creditor rights and related areas of the laws pertaining to the collection of debt, promoted constructive legislative changes, and represented the association's common interests. Developed strategies to assist its members in communicating with their legislators to promote the enactment of laws to advance the common business interests of its members. Judicial committee - interacted with the courts and the membership concerning judicial decisions affecting the collection of debt, creditor rights and related areas of the law pertaining to the collection of debt, promoted constructive judicial changes, and represented the association's common interests. Members have met with the state's judicial department leadership to improve communication and provide support and assistance for development of the state's new e-filing system. Education - gathered and disseminated information and material relative to consumer credit which was valuable to the members of the association and the general public. Provided education to the public and members of the credit and collection industry as to various aspects of the legal collection industry. Provided an interchange of ideas to encourage, foster and advance professional practices and ethical conduct among its members. Members presented a program developed by the national association of retail collection attorneys entitled "avoiding the debt trap" to local high school classes to assist young people to better understand credit and collection issue at an important time in their lives. Members are preparing an educational program on creditor claims for presentation to state court judges, justices of the peace and court commissionersbest practices- work with judges, justices of the peace, court commissioners and members of the association to identity and promote the most efficient and ethical practices when providing legal services in the collection industry.
