Alaska whitefish trawlers association, inc. Fosters and promotes interest of trawl-oriented seafood harvesters, represents members, acts as a centralized agency for members, and improves industry conditions.

During 2017, awta held the annual awta membership meeting and quarterly board meetings, participated in public fisheries regulation meetings (north pacific fishery management council, board of fish, kodiak fisheries workgroup), and served as representative to fishery industry groups (united fishermen of alaska, seafood harvesters of america, alaska groundfish data bank, marine conservation alliance) through meeting attendance in person and via teleconference.
