To promote a professionalism and specialization of the department of corrections of the state of alaska, to improve the economic, social, and civic status of the members and their families, to improve the working conditions, welfare, benefits, and efficiency in the department of corrections, to represent and act for its members.

To promote and enhance the correctional officer profession, to advocate for safe terms and conditions of employment, fair and equitable wages and benefits to allow correctional officers to properly support their families. To ensure that each officer is able to return safely to his or her family at the end of each shift. During fiscal year 2017, 870 members were represented by the association.
