Programs

In 2014 the organization celebrated 20 years. Four separate but comparable events were held, one each quarter in a different state. Each celebration featured an opening reception the evening of day 1. Day 2 began with a breakfast and plenary session featuring a speaker whose message appealed to business owners, corporate representatives, and other guests. This was followed by a reverse trade show and then a keynote luncheon featuring a corporate panel discussion. Each event closed with a final networking event that included a dessert reception. the organization hosted regional events in its five state territory which allowed over 500 women-owned businesses to meet with current and potential women-owned suppliers, provided networking and marketing opportunities for members to showcase their goods and services. the organization offers scholarships to an owner of a wbe firm or a member of her management team and the entity must be certified by wbec south in good standing for at least one year. The scholarships are intended to strengthen the management skills of a wbe member whose success could be enhanced by attending educational seminars, to expand public awareness of women-owned businesses, and to reward involvement of members of women's business enterprise council south. the organization also conducted its holiday luncheon and annual meeting which featured a keynote speaker and honored members during the awards recognition ceremony.
