Promoting Independence, Dignity and Responsibility The Betty Hardwick Center, A Community MHMR Resource, has been in business since July 1971. The Center operated as the Abilene Regional Mental Health-Mental Retardation Center until September 2000, at which time the name was changed to honor long-time board member and public servant, Betty Hardwick.
