Mental Health , Substance Abuse Dependency, Prevention & Treatment
During 2016- 2017 alternatives provided services to 457 individuals who received 3800 service contacts (primarily group). Twice as many participants successfully completed their program as failed or were jailed and ultimately many of those who failed their first attempt will return and succeed. For example, of the 108 people receiving services for domestic violence during the year 64% are still in the program and over 32% successfully completed or transferred to another program. This means that 2% of this challenging population (for the moment at least) have dropped out of treatment. the misdemeanor diversion program declined this year. Overall the number of referrals decreased from 116 clients last year to 103 this year, probation continues to offer free groups to clients. The domestic violence batterers program saw an increase in referrals over last year going from 54 admissions to 70. drug diversion has experienced a increase in clients from last year. This year the program had 194 admissions compared to the prior year admissions were 135. alternatives' alcohol and other drug (aod) treatment program has continued with people who are interested in changing their drug/alcohol use. The program continues to contract with federal probation and stop for treatment. Numbers for this year are not comparable to the prior year because probation refers clients to the behavioral intervention program. Most of our client are self-referred or referred from their employer.
