The illinois youthbuild coalition (iybc) works to expand employment and education opportunities for low income or at risk youth by advocating for increased resources, public awareness, and involvement on behalf of youth-serving organizations in illinois - primarily the youthbuild programs of illinois. Established in 1997, the iybc is one of thirteen state coalitions in the united states; it is supported by youthbuild usa and the national youthbuild coalition.

Illinois youthbuild programs provide a range of services for disadvantaged, unemployed and at-risk youth aged 16-24. Increasingly, programs are training young people in green construction skills and other green jobs to fulfill the need for greening america. During 2014, the organization received a grant from the illinois department of commerce and economic opportunity for the weatherization training program.
