We took 2 groups of volunteers to malawi, africa in june and july of 2013. The first group was a group of teachers who worked in a school of 4,000 students. We taught teaching stratagies to the 2 teachers who work in the school. We also delivered 500 pounds of donated school supplies. The second group of 5 volunteers worked at an orphan community located in the township of kauma in malawi. We paid for and built 2 imporved cooking stoves, one clean water pump and helped to landscape a vegetable garden. We also worked on making fuel briquetts that are used to heat the improved stoves. In 2013 we started our youth program in the united states. We worked with 15 members of our local community and helped them to create volunteer projects locally. One of the groups decided to set up an anti bully dance for the grade school children. The teens put together a program that all students heard before the dance which taught them about bullying and what to do if they know of someone who is being bullied or if they themself are being bullied. The other group set up a fundraiser to help raise money for a handicap accesable playground which is being built in the city of breese, il. In total roughly 5,000 people were impacted by our work both here and in malawi, africa.
