American Service to India was founded to provide much-needed assistance to the poor and needy of India, primarily in the areas of health and education. It has sought to accomplish this through a variety of programs that address immediate needs as well as others that provide assistance over the long term. These programs have included the funding of projects which ASTI's Board feels most adequately meets those needs. In all cases, the main emphasis of ASTI is to relieve the suffering of the poor of India as much as possible within the restrictions of its financial resources, the vast majority of which are funded by donations from individuals and/or organizations in sympathy with ASTI's goals.
