Ywca Richmond

Mission

Ywca richmond is an organization for women united by a passion for social change, equality and economic empowerment. The organization offers women of all ages leadership opportunities, shelter for safety, programs focused on racial justice, financial and emotional self-sufficiency, and high quality, affordable pre-school education for all families in the greater richmond region. The mission is to eliminate racism, empower women, and promote peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all. As a solution-focused, trauma-informed agency, ywca strives to increase community access to domestic and sexual violence prevention and intervention programs, champion causes that advance racial equity, increase women's ability to achieve self-efficacy, and expand services in early childhood programming that enhance family sustainability and stability.

Programs

In the fiscal year ended june 30, 2017, we provided the following services to low-income children, ages 2 1/2 - 5, and their families:- 135 children received quality early education services - 100% of eligible 4 and 5 year olds successfully transitioned to kindergarten - 98% of parents attended training workshops and parent/teacher conferences- 98% of parents volunteered in the classroom and on fieldtrips, donated supplies, and served on the parent committee in the fiscal year ending june 30, 2017, we provided the following services to sexual and domestic violence survivors:- 4,954 crisis calls - 185 women and children provided shelter - 94% of clients transitioned into safe housing - 100% worked with advocates to prepare safety plan- 1,149 on-call advocate hours- 485 hospital accompaniment hours provided to survivors- 35 survivors connected to healthcare services and support- 26 survivors were assisted with legal advocacy- 174 survivors participated in workforce development initiative
