ACAM leverages the assets of community service providers and builds cross-sector partnerships toward collective impact, creating community-wide solutions for thriving nonprofits, neighborhoods, and families. ACAM conducts research, measures outcomes, and designs programs encompassing best practices, doing so at a level at which direct-service nonprofits rarely have the resources. In turn, through ACAM, the network is increasing collaboration, promoting each other’s development, raising service standards, innovating programs, and making a greater impact in the lives of low-income families across the region. The ACAM Network fights homelessness, hunger, and hopelessness with a strong commitment to helping clients build independence and resiliency. For families living in poverty or experiencing hardship, neighborhood-based assistance ministries can be the difference between a hungry belly and a stocked pantry, or eviction and housing stability. Solving the depths of poverty in Houston’s neighborhoods requires a holistic approach implemented through trusted relationships fostered in those neighborhoods. ACAM honors the unique relationship partner organizations have with the communities they serve and helps them pursue community transformation as they transform themselves. As a result, ACAM’s ministry partners are highly engaged in building capacity for their own organizations, while also contributing significant time and energy to strengthening the network and helping more families gain tools to succeed. Each partner organization employs culturally sensitive strategies tailored to their respective communities to help families gain stability and leave poverty behind. They recognize that success takes persistence, education, and coordination, and joining the ACAM Network is one way they demonstrate their commitment to excellence and growth.
