Programs

The new rochelle ymca is able to accomplish its mission through seven departments of programs & member services. Youth development: the ymca is committed to nurturing the potential of every child and teen by cultivating the values, skills and relationships that lead to positive behaviors, better health and educational achievement. After school programs: in 2017, over 115 unduplicated children attended the ymca's after school program in two locations in new rochelle. Programs offer tutorial assistance, healthy snacks, physical activities, swimming, arts and social competency skills, all led by trained, caring, positive adult role models. Over a hundred families remain gainfully employed while their children are engaged in quality, affordable care. Financial aid is available for those who qualify. Universal pre-kindergarten (upk): during 2017, over 61 kids attended our half day (morning & afternoon) upk enrichment programs for three & four year olds. While cognitive development and school readiness are the primary focus of these programs, we reach out to engage them in other services provided by the ymca. Aquatics: over 1,770 children and adults participated in swim lessons, aquatic group exercise class and swim team. Financial aid is available for those who qualify. Day camps: the summer day camp is designed to offer children from pre-k to the 8th grade a wide variety of activities that are sure to keep them entertained and preventing summer learning loss, intertwined into all of these activities that are four character values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility that we stress in all of our spirit, mind and body programs, which help in building confidence and maturity among our campers. In 2017, over 188 children attended our summer day camp program. We also offer holiday day camps during the school year. Financial aid is available for those who qualify. Youth sports: we provide a series of sports / recreational programs for ages 3 to 18, including basketball, soccer, karate and ballet. All programs focus on social competency skills, teamwork, and mutual respect instilling the four core values of the ymca and developing a lifelong interest in recreation / fitness. In 2017, over 500 kids took part in our basketball clinics, soccer and karate & ballet lessons. Financial aid is available for those who qualify.
