In y swim lessons, participants learn and practice new swimming skills and feel a sense of achievement from mastering something new that they can enjoy the rest of their lives. While participating in fun water sports and games, children also increase their physical activity levels. Participants in y swim lessons are connected to others in the class, make new friends and recognize new role models. The participants are more comfortable and secure around water, as they learn water safety and improve their swim skills. Children have a stronger bond with their parents and family members from the take home activities of family huddles and sharing boating safety tips. health and wellness for youth and adults - helping people of all ages and abilities develop health in spirit, mind and body. Our programs are designed to help people create realisitic goals for self-improvement and emphasize disease and obesity prevention through regular exercise, proper nutrition, stress management, and health education. Sports programs for youth, families and adults promote teamwork, interaction, and development of social and physical skills. Our teen sports programs offer a variety of activites that emphasize teamwork, skill development, fun competition, and equal participation. youth development programs - ymca youth and teen programs give kids good role models to help them develop self-esteem and good values, including cooperation, respect, good citizenship, and a strong work ethic. Our youth and government programs expose young people to civic leaders and help them develop an understanding and appreciation of civic involvement. Our service learning and environmental programs help youth develop an appreciation of charitable service and preservation of our natural resources. Our ymca resident camp progams provide a lasting experience of personal enrichment. Residental and day camps offer adventure and learning activities that provide challenge and promote spiritual awareness, mental development, physical well-being, social growth, and self-respect. Camping helps youth become aware of their physical and mental capabilities, to recognize the value of cooperation, and to gain confidence. child care-to provide high-quality child care by providing comprehensive activities for preschool and school age children, drawing on diverse members of the community throughout the school year and summer months. We provide both full and part-time options to serve a wide range of family scheduling needs. Ymca child care programs relieve the burden of balancing work and family, making it possible for parents of children in our care to remain gainfully employed, knowing that their children are thriving in a safe, developmentally sound environment. The ymca provides tuition assistance for child care services to defray expenses and provide a variety of activites that emphasize parent education and help parents learn more about how to raise healthy, happy children who develop self-esteem, moral and ethical values.
