Healthy living,- the y is a leading voice on health and wellbeing. Through programs such as group exercise, water aerobics, cycling, senior exercise, yoga and lap swimming, we bring people closer together, encourage good health, and foster connections through fitness, sports, fun, and shared interests. As a result, many people in our community are receiving the support, guidance, and resources they need to achieve greater health in spirit, mind, and body. This is particularly important as our nation struggles with an obesity crisis, families struggle with work/life balance, and individuals search for personal fulfillment. Our programs are accessible, affordable, and open to all faiths, backgrounds, abilities, and income levels. No one is turned away due to inability to pay, financial assistance is provided to those who otherwise would have faced economic barriers to participation. sports & recreation - the y nurtures the potential of children through youth sports programming that is designed to strengthen character in our youth, engage families, and build lasting relationships. Participants in programs such as soccer, basketball, t-ball, volleyball, tumbling and cheerleading build skills, learn about teamwork, learn new skills, make new friends, and focus on sportsmanship. Families are given volunteer opportunities as coaches, team parents, and committee members. Our sports programs develop confidence, promote diversity, increase self-esteem, and improve physical condition. The positive time with family and friends in this environment strengthens our community. Financial assistance is available to everyone, no one is turned away from our programs due to the inability to pay. childcare - our ymca is committed to nurturing the potential of every child and teen. We believe that all kinds deserve the opportunity to discover who they are and what they can achieve. That's why we help young people cultivate the values, skills, and relationships that lead to positive behaviors, better health and educational achievement. Our ymca programs such as pre-school child care, school age child care, day cam and teen camp offer a range of experiences that enrich cognitive , social, physical, and emotional growth. Ymca child care is available to all regardless of a family's inability to pay and direct financial assistance makes participation possible for many of the young people we engage in these programs. other programs - the ymca offers youth swim lessons for all ages and abilities and also uses the indoor swimming pool for community partnerships with the american red cross, adrian college, boys and girls club, hope community center and goodwill. Jump start is a collaborative program with adrian public schools where students in grades 5-8 are given the chance to earn a free membership to the y by attending a program designed to increase physical activity and learn about healthy eating. The ymca also provides adult exercise classes for college credit in conjunction with jackson community college.
