Many thru-hikers have either recently graduated from college, recently retired, recently lost a loved one, either left or were laid off from their job, or are a veteran. Most thru-hikers are in a state of transition in their lives. We attempt to help thru-hikers through their transitional period by meeting their felt and actual needs. Many thru-hikers have difficulty assimilating back into society. So, we also attempt to assimilate hikers back into society as productive members.
