1in6 was founded in 2007 to tackle a serious social problem—the far-reaching consequences of untreated sexual abuse among a staggering one in six males in the United States. Since it was founded, 1in6 has become a leading voice in the anti-sexual violence movement and a trusted resource for male-identifying survivors and their loved ones. Clinicians looking for research-based, trauma-informed programs also turn to 1in6. In 2016, 1in6's mission was expanded to include serving men who have experienced sexual assault in adulthood, and as the only national professional organization in the United States working with adult male survivors, 1in6 is now serving a population in the tens of millions. 1in6.org is the world’s most thorough online resource (in English and Spanish) for the millions of men in the United States and beyond who have experienced sexual abuse or assault, and for the loved ones and professional providers who care about them. Website resources include a 24/7 online helpline, weekly online support groups, and an online library of recommended books and films. These services are complemented by a rich variety of training, awareness, and engagement programming. Currently, 1in6.org receives over 400,000 visits annually and is cited by many other organizations as a primary resource for male survivors.
