Interaction with our music angels helps to alleviate the loneliness and isolation felt by most of the elderly we serve. Music sessions offer a form of sensory stimulation which provides positive responses due to the familiarity, predictability, and feelings of security associated with the music. The program helps to maintain and improve senior cognitive abilities, including language skills, and group activities encourage socialization. Even for those with severe dementia, music can tap deep emotional recall. Care home owners report that 85% of their residents do not receive regular weekly visitors, so for most of the seniors we serve, audrey's angels is their only connection to the outside world.
