Yachad, --a hebrew word for "together" --is a nonprofit organization mobilizing volunteers, skilled and unskilled to repair and preserve affordable housing, community facilities and commercial property throughout the district of columbia and greater metropolitan area since 1990. Yachad brings communities together to preserve affordable housing and revitalize neighborhoods throughout the district of columbia and the metropolitan area. Yachad means together and that's how we do our work in partnership with homeowners, houses of worship and community stakeholders. We mobilize volunteers, invest financial resources, and work together to transform people and properties. Our mission is rooted in the jewish responsibility to seek justice by engaging in acts of loving kindness. We welcome people of all faiths to share in our work to keep our communities inclusive and vital.

Single family home repair program (includes sukkot in spring, hard hats and helping hands): yachad's single family home repair programs assisted more than 135 occupants, accounting for the repair or renovation of 43 projects; approximately 1801 volunteer hours; 27 volunteer groups; 348 volunteers; 30 construction-related firms worked with yachad. Overall, the program leveraged $460,000 in valued goods and services contributed. ramp it up! : a summer community service project for teenagers, built a 30' ramp for a young man who was in a traffic accident and lost a leg. Twenty teens spent 2 weeks constructing the ramp under the supervision of a general contractor. homeowners education program provides 10-12 hours of instruction to homeowners in home maintenance, financial literacy, including household budgeting, and civic engagement. The programs are open to homeowners and volunteers. The series of workshops are offered twice a year.
