The abraham lincoln healthcare foundation preserves the mission of abraham lincoln memorial hospital, which is to improve the health of the people and communities they service in logan county and eastern mason county, illinois. This is accomplished through soliciting donor funds designated for medical equipment, community health education/outreach programs, and assistance to community members.
Health
A health education and outreach program is a major tenet of abraham lincoln healthcare foundation (alhf) funding. In order to ensure a supply of talented healthcare workers down the road, alhf has established a program that provides $10,000 to $30,000 scholarships to local students with commitments to return to the hospital upon graduation. In 2017, we gave out 1 scholarship in the amount of $20,000 to a local nursing student. Its community health collaborative houses all community health initiatives that extend outside the walls of abraham lincoln memorial hospital (almh). Its vision is to create the healthiest community in the nation. Current initiatives include the almh market providing access to fresh produce and free health screenings to all in our community; the coordinated approach to child health (catch) program impacting over 3,300 local students, substance use prevention and more. Abraham lincoln healthcare foundation also has a fund for employees to have an opportunity to further their professional careers by obtaining certification. the abraham lincoln healthcare foundation uses charitable gifts to purchase medical equipment for almh, which in the past year included 1. ) acute care waiting area furniture, 2. )pap patients cadiochecks, 3. ) or scales. the abraham lincoln healthcare foundation shows care for its community through a number of programs. A service of rememberance helps families deal with the loss of a loved one. Pharmaceutical assistance funds purchase a short-term supply of medications for emergency department patients who might not otherwise receive the medications they need to improve their health. 16 patients were assisted with their medications. Finally, abraham lincoln healthcare foundation funnels charitable funds to our sister organization, memorial home services, to pay for the pain and other medications used by local hospice patients. net proceeds from abraham lincoln healthcare foundation events fund the purchase of lifeline units placed in 115 homes of local residents who are elderly and/or disabled. These alert and responder systems enable many community members to remain living in their own homes for a longer period of time.
