The AFE Foundation is the only organization in the world dedicated to amniotic fluid embolism (AFE) and seeking a way to prevent this leading cause of maternal death and suffering in the Unites States and abroad. The AFE Foundation is proud to continue our ground breaking research in collaboration with researchers at Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) in Houston ,TX. The Amniotic Fluid Embolism Patient Registry (TM) allows researchers greater insight into individual cases of amniotic fluid embolisms as well as examine commonalities among those affected. With over 200 patients enrolled in the study, it makes it the largest, most comprehensive database of AFE cases compiled in the world. In addition to advancing research, the AFE Foundation also promotes clinical education. Over 5,000 clinicians have received advanced educational information to better help them prepare for this unpreventable and unexpected birth complication. Our outreach welcomes more than 50,000 visits to the AFE Foundation website annually to better learn more about the condition and connect to valuable resources, guides and connect to others affected.
