Preservation of greenway through hiring of interns for seasonal work and hands on experience. Work includes invasive species removal, maintenance of tree plantings, spraying of herbicide, site prep, and plantings. removal of invasive plant species from selected parkway areas. Planting of seeds within the parkway areas. Most of this is accomplished by volunteers. Expenses include chemical, seeds and rented equipment along with contracting with an external company to install a stream crossing on one property in order to access adjacent property for restoration and maintenance purposes. run for the hill of it 5k trail run presented by nicolet bank: the organization along with several sponsors hosted a 5k trail run with over 300 participants and over 20 volunteers assisting with event. The goals for hosting the trail run was to increase awareness of and appreciation for the unique attributes of the baird creek greenway and to promote the preservation, education, and recreational opportunities provided by the baird creek preservation foundation. All revenue went directly to supporting the expenses of the event and all proceeds went to further improve the baird creek greenway.
