By caring for animals unable to return to the wild, the yellowstone wildlife sanctuary's primary focus is to educate the public about the protection and conservation of yellowstone ecosystem wildlife and natural habitats.

Provide a public facility to receive and care for native montana wildlife that cannot be returned to the wild. Provides programs to schools and community organizations. A total of 35 schools and 2,095 students visited the yellowstone wildlife sanctuary during 2016.
