Education
The adams street foundation, in partnership with the urban assembly school for law & justice (slj), serves 460 students, the majority of whom live near or below the poverty line and will be the first in their family to go to college. Slj is an unscreened, law-themed high school with an exceptional 91% graduation rate and all graduating seniors have college acceptances or other purposeful post-high school plans. Moreover, 67% of the class of 2018 entered slj reading below grade level, but 81% met the college readiness indicator by the september of their senior year. In addition, in fall 2017, we had 16 students apply to college through early action/early decision yielding a 69% approval rate.
