Founded in 2003, Academy Prep Center of Tampa is a rigorous, private, non-profit middle school serving underrepresented students in Tampa, Florida. Our mission is to inspire and empower students qualifying for need-based scholarships to become future community leaders through a rigorous middle school program coupled with ongoing graduate support. Academy Prep provides an exemplary, college preparatory middle school education. Academy Prep students attend school 11 hours a day, 6 days a week, 11 months a year. Academic classes are taught separately by gender. Students are required to take weekly classes in chess, art, and music - our Centers of Excellence. On Saturdays, our students attend field trips which include visits to nature preserves, art museums, history centers, and participation in community service projects. Graduate Support Services helps develop educated adults, who in turn will have a positive social and economic impact on our communities.
