Programs

With strong support from the council on domestic violence and sexual assault and the alaska housing finance corporation's basic homeless assistance program, awaic provides emergency shelter for victims of domestic violence and their children who are fleeing domestic violence. While in shelter they receive shelter, food, basic needs, crisis intervention, case management, informational and referral, legal advocacy, personal support, transportation, and education and support groups. A 24 hour crisis line is also answered in the shelter. In fy17, awaic provided services to 428 women and 222 children at imminent risk. In fy17, awaic provided 15,640 contacts which included crisis intervention, personal support, information and referral, support and educational groups, transportation, and medical and social services.
