AVERT was founded in 1995 as a "Citizen Board" by Salt Lake County Government. We reorganized in late 1998 and distributed more than a quarter million dollars worth of military surplus supplies and equipment deemed appropriate for CERTs. We now function as a private nonprofit corporation for public education and benefit with regard to disaster preparedness, response and recovery.
