BAWAR’s main purpose is to empower, support, intervene on behalf of and advocate for sexual assault survivors and their loved ones/significant others. We also strongly believe in education as a source of understanding as well as a tool that can be implemented to help the survivor/loved one understand what happened, how to possibly heal from the trauma as well as strategies that may help them to be safer from sexual assault in the future.

Bawar provides 24 hour services to sexual assault survivors: including, counseling & advocacy (legal, medical & other). Nearly 800 clients were served during this fiscal year, 60 individuals received training in sexual assault awareness.
